Heating and cooling your home, while necessary, can generate a pretty hefty expense on your utility bill each month. Without the right knowledge of how to control heating and cooling your home, you could be missing out on saving hundreds each year with small changes to what you’re probably doing now. At Climatech, we care that our clients live comfortably and affordably which is why we’re sharing some cost-cutting tips to make doing that a little easier.
Keep Up With Your Thermostat
We know that living comfortably is largely influenced by the temperature in which your thermostat is set. In colder months, we highly recommend bumping the temperature down 5-10 degrees from what you’re used to, and in warmer months, bump the temperature up 5-10 degrees. If you’re used to a comfortable temperature of 72, make a gradual accommodation of moving down to 65 in colder months and 78 in warmer months. These temperatures don’t take long for your body to get used to living in and you’ll save around 10% on your electricity bill each month!
Climatech can also give you more efficient and effective technologies to lower your bill by using one of our great American Standard programmable thermostats. With smart technology that allows you to control the thermostat from your phone, you can raise or lower the temperature when you’re away for ultimate energy savings. After all, most of us are gone for 8 hours a day, and with technology that allows you to save energy during that time while still coming home to your ideal environment, you’ll have the best of both worlds: comfort and efficiency.
Check Your Air Filter Regularly
Air filters are used to catch pollutants like dust, pet dander, and allergens circulating throughout our homes to keep the air we breathe safe and clean, as well as to keep our heating and cooling system running properly. Properly working equipment is essential in creating an energy efficient environment that saves you money on your monthly bill. When your system is working at optimum performance, it reduces the amount of work required and, in turn, less energy is generated which lowers your electricity bill.
Making sure to replace or clean your air filter regularly is also important in making sure the air you breathe in your home is the cleanest, purest air possible; just another reason why doing this is a must!
Get Energy Efficient Equipment
Getting energy efficient equipment is an investment, no doubt. However, doing so can save you tons of money in the long run, and by itself, could save you hundreds every year. If you’re considering investing in energy efficient equipment, Climatech can help. It’s important to us that we consider every client’s unique home situation, and we encourage you to ask questions so you can make an educated decision on the best system for your home, your family, and your budget.

- Bulk wash laundry in cold water.
- Keep blinds closed when it’s too hot or too cold outside.
- Swap out light bulbs in your home to energy saving light bulbs.
- Check the seals on doors and windows for air leaks.
- Turn the system off and open doors or windows when the weather is comfortable.
- Make sure your appliances are running correctly.
